Organization Development - Executive Onboarding - Executive Coaching

George (Bud) Orr

Bud has been an active consultant with the Orion Partnership since 1985. He works with businesses and organizations undergoing change and stress due to growth, resizing or transformation. The primary focus of this work has been the planning and implementation of large systems change with a particular emphasis on organization culture change. He also works with organizations on leadership development, team building and the development of organizational vision. He has worked with both public and private sector clients, primarily in the service sector.

Bud has been a practitioner of the change methodology known as Appreciative Inquiry (AI) for almost two decades. Over the years he has found that people in organizations have become frustrated with creating a constantly recycling list of problems to be solved in their organization. These problem lists, when addressed, never seem to improve their organizational lives or the products and services they deliver to their customers. Bud has found great acceptance and genuine excitement in organizations that adopt an Appreciative approach to change and development. (Read more on AI)

In addition to his consulting work, Bud is the co-author of The Courageous Messenger: How to Successfully Speak Up at Work (Jossey-Bass, 1996), written with his colleagues Kathleen Ryan and Dan Oestreich. He is also a founding member of The Community Consulting Partnership, a Seattle-based effort that helps volunteers improve their organization consulting skills while they provide service to a local non-profit organization.
