About Marlyse Cato

Marlyse has over 25 years of experience working with executives and managers to help them discover their unique talents, strengths and gifts. She shows them how to get results through collaboration, respect and purposeful action. Her greatest organizational satisfaction comes from seeing individuals and teams achieve positive, useful, lasting results. Marlyse has held internal senior level Organization Development and Human Resources management roles as well as external consulting roles over the course of her career. She has guided organizations through start up phases, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and organization design. She provides executive coaching and assimilation, leadership team building, change navigation and conflict resolution. In addition, Marlyse has broad HR knowledge and specific expertise in recruiting, employee relations, culture assessment and governance.

Two years ago, she joined her husband, Steven Cato, as a principal in the Moss Bay Consulting Partnership based in the Pacific Northwest. Consulting services provided by the Moss Bay Consulting Partnership include guiding organizations through successful change projects using Appreciative Inquiry, a new and innovative approach to organization development by focusing on identifying, growing and radically multiplying an organization’s strengths.

Moss Bay Consulting Partnership has a diverse client base of small, medium and large public, private and nonprofit businesses. These organizations represent a wide range of complex working environments, projects and industries from which to draw experience. Some examples include Microsoft Corporation, Halliburton, Nordstrom, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Alaska Airlines, USF&G Insurance, The Boeing Company, the University of Washington, and various school districts in Washington State.

Helping organizations and their recently hired or promoted leaders successfully navigate new cultures, responsibilities and relationships has been a particular passion and focus for Marlyse in the past five years. To expand on this focus in her consulting practice, she is teaming up with colleague, Kathleen Ryan, to design, develop and deliver tailored, effective executive on-boarding plans and coaching to organizations located in the greater Seattle area.

Outside of professional work, Marlyse has found ways to be of service to her community. Using skills and interest in education and her teaching experience, she is volunteering as a Reading Buddy at her local grade school and performs kindergarten scholastic assessments. She is also an active volunteer with the YWCA.
